My Pet and the Bribe.

I don't precisely remember from where did I get him! When I named him Hippy he came running towards me with his tail wagging as if he liked to be called so. The lonesome room which had just the company of my old clock with its jarring sound filled with laughter and his pranks tickling my funny bones. Whenever I tried to pen or scribble something on my school book Hippy would come stealthily aiming my pen possessing the vigor of a cougar that is going to pounce on its prey. The mere sight of his ogle would break me into a spasm of laugh. I would reach the utmost stage of an impulse to giggle when I spot him swaying on the curtain back and forth. Nothing could push him to the valley of lonesomeness as whatever he touched was lovelier than a toy for him. In the interim, it's a daunting task for a human to find himself contented and occupied with his spree of interest. He was the happiest kitten I had ever seen...

My inexperienced countryside life along with my age made me incapable of dealing with a pet's house training. I was not bothered to train him with a designated area outside the house. So he followed his own impulses arbitrarily inside the house. Our kitchen store room stank with his faeces. When it aggravated to an unbearable extent, my householders started nagging me for the burdens they had to endure to satiate my wishes. I also didn't lift a finger to clean up the mess as a kind of stifling sensation thwarted me when I entered the dark room. Amid all the hullaballoos our affection surged and our love knew no bounds.

As the intermittent naggings proved useless they hatched a plan to bring me into their lines. The whole household rose to their feet when the stench skyrocketed. They resembled the despondent citizens who had to chalk out a wile of bribe to take the corrupted politicians in hands to seek their intervention in their necessities. I sensed the black day was right around the corner when my sister approached me parting her lips. I sniffed danger promptly. With a fabricated cough she started to bribe me. When the speech retired I went into a tizzy as I found myself in a dilemma of my loving pet on the one hand and the reward of a golden watch on the other. It was my long term dream to have a golden watch. But none of my dreams could be fulfilled in the hustle bustle life of my working parents. They seldom asked my needs and I rarely conversed with them.

The initial expostulation gradually diminished and the dream of a watch got hold of me and I accepted the offer with the thought of flaunting it to my cohorts. I imagined my friends crowding around me to have a look at it. The ostentatious dream handcuffed me and I vanquished. When the positive response was communicated Hippy was dumped into a box swiftly and the car zoomed away.

Shortly afterwards my hand sparkled with a golden watch. I stared at my hands....The bribe was grinning brightly on my wrist. Gradually it mastered a sober look. By the time we fathom what is more significant to us, the unyielding nature of time will pass a hard kook on us. Tears were rolling down my cheeks and the mere look of watch stifled me. Everything looked substandard except my pet's harrowing memories. Again the room was seething with the sober hands of silence which took a toll on me.

The next day itself I stepped to church as the guilt was subduing my conscience to an aggravated stage. I whispered to God that my pet should be safe and sound wherever he was. When I was trudging home back with a heavy heart I saw a kitten analogous to that of my pet. A spasm of blood gushed into my eyes and I bated my breath to see whether it could identify me but to no avail. It looked around and broke into a sprint  somewhere. My heart was pounding like a drum. I couldn't exactly decipher whether it was my pet. If it was him, why did he fail to recognize me?? He might have eavesdropped on the bribe scam. I swore to my pet in my heart that I would never ever wear that bribe again with a hard understanding of  what was lost was lost forever.
